Sapporo Grand Hotel
Sapporo Grand Hotel was founded in 1934 under the suggestion of the late Prince Chichibu as a reception room for political and business leaders and a social gathering place for local residents, and as Hokkaido's first authentic Western-style hotel, it continues to play the role of a gateway to Western culture. In May 1951, it became Hokkaido's first government-registered international tourist hotel, and in June 1978, it introduced Japan's first female bellperson, continuing to be a pioneer of its time.
