■Tangible cultural property transformed into a large snow sculpture! "Otaru Ginrinso"

Ginrinso is a herring fisherman's house built by Inomata Yasunojo, who prospered from herring fishing in the late Meiji period. It was moved to Otaru in 1938, and in 2023, the inn "Ginrinso Old Main Building" and the adjacent "Grill Ginrinso" were registered as national tangible cultural properties. This building, which stands out for its intricate design by master carpenter Senzo Yoneyama, is one of the few "herring palaces" that still convey Hokkaido's fishing culture to the present day. We recreated it with the desire to spread awareness of Otaru's history.
A total of 1,000 production crew members will work on the project over a period of 28 days.
*Size of the large snow sculpture (approx.): Width 22m, depth 18m, height 10m
■ Spectacular projection mapping that colors the large snow sculptures: "The Lights of Otaru"
With the theme of "light," projection mapping will be projected onto the large snow sculptures, expressing the kindness that lights up people's hearts during the cold season, hope for the future, and the history of Otaru. Enjoy this beautiful, fantastical evening-only production, including gas lamps beautifully floating on the canal, the colors of history engraved in stained glass, and the light of the lighthouse illuminating the return voyage.
