Born July 31, 1963 in Nakatsugawa City, Gifu Prefecture.
After graduating from high school, I entered a school for dental technicians and got a job.
In 1986, he received an honorable mention for his contribution "Tomie". This work will be his debut work and will be his representative work.
After three years, he quit his job as a dental technician and devoted himself to the manga business.
We will produce masterpieces such as "Michi no Machi", "Hanging Balloon", "Souichi" series, and "Dead People's Love Sickness".
In 1998, "Uzumaki" began serialization in "Big Comic Spirits" (Shogakukan).
After that, he continues to release unique works such as "Gyo" and "Kudan".
Starting with the 2019 "Junji Ito Masterpiece Collection Volume 10 Frankenstein" (English version) winning the "Best Comicalized Work Award" at the Eisner Awards in the United States, one of the most prestigious manga awards in the world. , won the same award in two categories in 2021 and in 2022, achieving a total of four awards. In recognition of his achievements, he was awarded a special honorary prize at the Angoulême International Comics Festival in France this year, which marks his 35th anniversary as an artist.
