A new light-up event, "Summer Lanterns," will be held to commemorate the 160th anniversary of the opening of the hot springs.
"Japanese-style lanterns" envelop the Jozankei Onsen hot spring resort town. Held daily from June 1st to October 31st!
In Sapporo's Jozankei Onsen, a new light-up event, "Summer Lanterns – A Stroll Through the Steam of Lights," will be held daily from June 1st to October 31st, 2026, to commemorate the 160th anniversary of the hot spring's opening. The popular illumination event "JOZANKEI NATURE LUMINARIE" will be reborn under a new concept themed around "Japanese-style lighting," coinciding with the relocation of the venue due to renovation work at Futami Park.
At the main venue, Jozankei Shrine (accessible only to hotel guests), projection mapping produced by NAKED, INC., as well as lighting and mist effects, will be featured. In addition, various parts of the hot spring town will be decorated with lanterns and paper lanterns, allowing visitors to enjoy a leisurely stroll. Be sure to visit and experience the story of the founder, "Mizumi Jozan," and the "land" of Jozankei.
