Marugoto participates in sustainable urban development through local reuse
Marugoto Co., Ltd. (Sapporo, Hokkaido; CEO: Hiroaki Ima; hereinafter, Marugoto), which develops monthly recruitment agency services such as " Marugoto Jinji " and " Marugoto Jinji Light ," is pleased to announce that it will collaborate with Jimoty Co., Ltd. (Head office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Takahiro Kato) to open the "Jimoty Spot Sapporo Shiroishi Store" on August 1, 2025. This initiative is a public-private partnership project based on an agreement on reuse between the city of Sapporo and Jimoty Co., Ltd., and Marugoto will participate as a partner company in charge of operating the physical store.
From online to real life──The first step in business expansion is in Sapporo
Since our founding in 2015, we have been developing a business that provides complete online support for the recruitment challenges faced by companies all over the country. In the process, while we have felt the rapid development of the digital society, including AI, we believe that the value of direct human interaction and physical places where things are circulated is decreasing and will continue to increase in the future. Furthermore, we have been thinking about how our company, which has a business model in which all employees work remotely and do not have an office, can more clearly contribute to the local community and create new value that does not yet exist in Sapporo.
Therefore, as a completely different real-world development from our previous online businesses, we have decided to open and start operating Hokkaido's first "Jimoty Spot Sapporo Shiroishi Store" on Friday, August 1, 2025 in collaboration with Jimoty Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Jimoty), which will be a public-private partnership reuse hub with Sapporo City. Operating a physical store that promotes the circulation of unwanted items within the local area and contributes to reducing waste in Sapporo City is a big challenge for our company, but as a company headquartered in Sapporo, we are determined to take root in the community and contribute to realizing a sustainable society.
Wanting to eliminate "Mottainai" – Representative Director Keisuke Ima's experiences
I (CEO Ima Keisuke) myself once helped my grandmother dispose of the large amount of household goods she had left behind at home when she moved into a nursing home. I felt a strong sense of waste at the huge expense, effort, and trouble of having to throw away items that were still perfectly usable. The fact that there was a place where anyone could easily recycle the items that become necessary and unnecessary in short cycles due to changes in lifestyle was also a major motivation for running this brick-and-mortar store.
About Jimoty Spot
Jimoty Spot is a service that allows people in the local community to share "things that are no longer needed but are still usable." People who want to bring in items can easily give them to people who need them by simply bringing them to a Jimoty Spot. And people who want to take them can search for information about the items brought in on the local information site "Jimoty" and have them picked up by the Jimoty Spot, which is how the system works.

We are very pleased that the first Jimoty Spot will be opened in Hokkaido through a collaboration between Jimoty Co., Ltd. and Marugoto Co., Ltd., a startup company based in Sapporo.
Jimoty Co., Ltd. has already made significant contributions to promoting reuse in Sapporo through its internet service, "Jimoty, the local bulletin board." With the opening of this physical store, we will be able to bring in all of our unwanted, still-usable items directly to the store, greatly expanding the reuse options available to us residents.
We hope that as many residents take advantage of this new service, reuse efforts in Sapporo will accelerate even further.
We are now starting a brick-and-mortar reuse business called Jimoty Spot in my hometown of Hokkaido. For our company, which has been running an online recruitment agency business, running a brick-and-mortar store is a big challenge. We deeply sympathize with Jimoty Spot's efforts to connect the local "mottainai" (avoiding waste) and make effective use of things, and we started the business with the desire to create new value in Sapporo.
As the digital society, including AI, advances, we believe that there is great value in places where people can meet face-to-face and where goods can be circulated. Starting with our first store in Hokkaido (Shiroishi Ward, Sapporo), we will contribute to a sustainable local community by being of service to the local community.
