The dancer who gets the crowd excited by dancing to the latest and greatest hits will be the winner. The dance battle event "Red Bull Dance Your Style" with such a simple rule has finally arrived in Sapporo for the first time!
The event will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2025, on a special stage (within the Sapporo Street Sports Festival venue) in the pedestrianized mall on Minami 1-jo Street in the center of Sapporo, Hokkaido, and will be free to watch.
On the day, street dancers of various genres such as hip hop, house, and locking will gather. From the latest popular songs to hits of the past and old dance classics, it is not known what songs will be played until the last minute – the dancers will improvise in response to the surprise song selection by the DJ, and the key to success will be how much they can excite the audience and draw cheers.
From Billie Eilish and Kendrick Lamar to Earth, Wind & Fire and even the latest J-pop, the performances of Japan's top dancers improvising to hit songs that everyone is familiar with are sure to liven up the venue.
Also, on the same day, the Sapporo Street Sports Festival will be held, where athletes from skateboarding, freestyle basketball, freestyle football, double dutch, and more will gather. Don't miss out on this day where the charm of street culture comes together!
In 2022, Japanese street dancer THE D SoraKi won over the audience, the venue, and even the music, advancing to the finals with unstoppable momentum. He won the title of World Champion out of street dancers from over 30 countries around the world.
The video of him dancing to Diana Ross's "I'm Coming Out" became a viral hit with over 100 million views in total, and it became a legendary night, with direct comments from Diana Ross herself and producer Nile Rodgers.
The Japanese champion of this dance battle event, Red Bull Dance Your Style, which is simple yet potentially life-changing, will earn a ticket to the world championships to be held in Los Angeles, USA in October 2025.
Participation in this competition is by invitation only. 16 dancers invited from all over the country will gather at the "Red Bull Dance Your Style 2025 Japan Final" to be held in Sapporo on Saturday, July 5th.
The winner is not decided by the judges, but by the audience, who simply vote for the dancer whose performance they liked best.
The simple rule is that the dancer who excites the audience the most and dominates the atmosphere of the venue will be the winner.

A 1 on 1 all-style dance battle where participants improvise to DJ music. A tournament of 16 people, 2 moves per battle, 3 moves in the finals only. The judges are the audience, who judge based on "rhythm," "skill," "creativity," and "charisma." The winner is determined by the red or blue card.
