To commemorate the first anniversary of its opening on Saturday, July 20, 2024, the urban aquarium "AOAO SAPPORO" in Sapporo Tanukikoji has decided to open a new museum store, "GOOD CONNECTION," on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. "AOAO SAPPORO" opened on Thursday, July 20, 2023, with the aim of providing a "hub for culture, exchange, and excitement" and a "place for environmentally-themed learning" and bringing new excitement to the city of Sapporo. Since then, it has undertaken a variety of initiatives, including special exhibitions that showcase the wonders of life and night events to liven up Sapporo's nighttime tourism.
The Museum Marche "GOOD CONNECTION" is a new style of shop that brings together people, things, and events, utilizing the functions of "collection and exhibition" that are unique to museum facilities.
The facility will include Shiretoko Sustainable Station, the first external visitor center in Shiretoko*1 to promote the World Heritage Site of Shiretoko, a bookstore called WONDER BOOKS where you can purchase books related to living things, and WONDER WINE, a pop-up shop that introduces and sells Hokkaido wines.
In addition, to mark its first anniversary, AOAO SAPPORO will be using key visuals that express the in-store experience using onomatopoeic copy in future posters and advertising media.
*1: This is the first visitor center outside the Shiretoko region (according to the Shiretoko Shari General Incorporated Association).
- About the Museum Marche "GOOD CONNECTION"
The Museum Marche "GOOD CONNECTION" is a new style of shop that brings together people, things, and events, utilizing the museum's unique functions of collection and exhibition. In addition to products that foster affection and interest in the creatures in the aquarium, the shop will open as a place where visitors can encounter initiatives and products that will serve as ideas for "nature positive" initiatives that will stop and reverse the loss of biodiversity in order to put nature on a recovery track. Several stores will open, including an external visitor's center, the first of its kind in Shiretoko*1, and different exhibitions and events will be held each season.

Shiretoko Shari General Incorporated Association, which promotes the attractions of the World Heritage Site "Shiretoko" and plans and sells products originating from Shiretoko and Shari Town, will open Shiretoko's first*1 external visitor center, "Shiretoko Sustainable Station," outside Shari Town.
Plans include an exhibition of photos of Shiretoko, sales of "Shiretoko Toko-san" goods featuring the symbol of Shiretoko, and events to promote the nature and culture of Shiretoko.

This is a bookstore where you can encounter the wonders of living things and life, spinning off from the "Library Aquarium (Room of Observation and Discovery)" zone on the 5th floor of "AOAO SAPPORO," which has an exhibition combining books and aquariums. We will be promoting the appeal of living things from the perspective of a bookstore. With the cooperation of "Bunsetsu Roppongi," a "bookstore for discovering books," we plan to hold special exhibitions with books as the entrance.
About Bunkitsu Roppongi
A bookstore with an admission fee where you can savor culture. In addition to the selection room with about 30,000 unique books selected by the book director, ranging from humanities and natural sciences to design and art, the store also has a reading room where you can sit down and read a book alone, and a cafe where you can satisfy your hunger, offering customers the opportunity to "encounter unexpected books" and "spend time with books as they wish." In addition, the store regularly holds special exhibitions and events that can spark new interests, and last winter held the special exhibition "Fin Exhibition – Aquarium to Read" in collaboration with AOAO SAPPORO (December 2023 – January 2024).

To mark its first anniversary, AOAO SAPPORO will be using key visuals that express the experience in the facility using onomatopoeia copy and will be displayed in future posters and advertising media.
The key visual for this exhibition expresses the movements of the creatures at "AOAO SAPPORO" and the experiences of visitors through "repeated words" that visitors will find easy to say out loud, creating a fun visual for "AOAO SAPPORO" that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike.
In addition, from Monday, July 1st, original cards featuring the key visual design will be distributed to all visitors.
