Sapporo Hitsujigaoka Observatory Golden Week Event will be held again this year with a variety of activities including sheep shearing and kite flying

The Sapporo Hitsujigaoka Observatory will be holding the "Golden Week Event 2024" from Saturday, April 27th to Monday, May 6th (substitute).
We have prepared a series of events that the whole family can enjoy, including a tour of Hitsujigaoka's spring tradition of sheep shearing and the opportunity to try kite flying and kite making.
In addition, admission for elementary school students will be free from May 3rd (Friday, national holiday) to May 6th (Monday, postponed). We look forward to seeing you there.

A famous spring event at Hitsujigaoka Observatory. A string of graceful kites soars into the fresh, blue skies of Hitsujigaoka. This year, a string of kites representing the Chinese zodiac sign of the dragon will be flying. Mini kites add color to the string of kites. The event may be canceled due to wind or rain.

2. Watch sheep shearing

Dates: April 27th (Saturday) to 29th (Monday, National Holiday)

Time: Part 1: 11:00~ Part 2: 13:30~

*On the 29th, there will be only the second part, and there will be no first part.

Once a year at this time, sheep shed their heavy coats (wool) and change into their summer clothes.

The event will be held twice each day, from 11:00 and 13:30, with one or two animals being sheared each time. Please note that the event will be canceled in the event of rain.

3. Food trucks will also be coming!

A wide variety of food trucks will be available during the event.

The popular food truck will also make its first appearance at Hitsujigaoka.

You can enjoy your favorite gourmet food along with the vast scenery.

A maximum of five food trucks will be set up per day, with 17 different types of food trucks set up during the event.

4. Wool felt keychains

We will be holding a workshop where participants can use 100% wool felt to create tags with original designs using weaving and pasting techniques.

5. Kitpass Land

This will be an experiential event where you can use gachapon machines to purchase your own Kitpas, and then freely draw and play in Kitpas Land.

6. Gel Candle & Ice Cream Soap Workshop

Dates: May 3rd (Friday, national holiday) to May 5th (Sunday, national holiday)

7. Strider Experience

Age range: 2 to 5 years old

*Participants must be accompanied by a guardian.

There will be an area where you can enjoy Strider, a running bike that moves forward by kicking the ground with your feet. Striders are available to rent for free. You can enjoy playing while feeling the majestic nature of Hitsujigaoka.

The target age is 2 to 5 years old. Participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

8. Strawberry Daifuku specialty store "Potapota Ichigo" opens

This strawberry daifuku specialty store opened at Hitsujigaoka Observatory last year and was extremely popular.

"Potapota Ichigo" will also be opening a stall at Hitsujigaoka Observatory in spring.
