In November 2018, Ory Laboratory Co., Ltd., which was born with the mission of "eliminating human loneliness", launched the "Avatar Robot Cafe DAWN ver.β" where people who have difficulty going out due to disabilities or environmental factors can work from home. In June 2021, a permanent experimental store was opened in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, and about 70 OriHime pilots who have difficulty going out have been promoting social participation and remote work using avatar robots.
From 2022 onwards, we aim to accelerate social implementation in local areas, and have decided to hold limited-time caravan cafes in two areas, Fukuoka and Sapporo, which have shown deep understanding and cooperation in our activities for some time. .
The Hokkaido area, which will be the second caravan cafe, is an area where three certified OriHime pilots belonging to the Ory Research Institute live, and it is said that it is difficult for wheelchair users to go out especially in the snowy winter. In some areas, it is impossible to leave the house at all for 3 to 4 months in winter, and there is a problem that communication with the outside is limited. Last year, the Hokkaido Board of Education conducted a trial "Remote Work Experience at an Alternate Robot Cafe" using OriHime, and students from the Hokkaido Teine School for the Handicapped Misumiyama Branch School actually participated in the "Attachment Robot Cafe DAWN" in Nihonbashi, Tokyo.
