Alongside the Sapporo International Art Festival (abbreviation: SIAF), the SIAF Lab, which explores the creativity unique to the northern country and develops experimental art projects based on research and development (R&D), is a Hokkaido University science and technology communication education. We launched the R&D platform "SIDE" jointly with the research department CoSTEP and the Sapporo Cultural Arts Exchange Center SCARTS.

"SIDE" art project "Side Effects 2022-2024"
In "Side Effects 2022-2024," the concert plan "Island Eye Island Ear" (commonly known as IEIE), which was conceived half a century ago by musician David Tudor and artist Fujiko Nakaya and has not yet been completed. I-Y) rethink.
Based on the idea of turning the isolated island of Sweden into a musical instrument, IEIE planned to "reveal the nature of the island" using sound beams, fog, and kites.
This art project explores the feasibility of a visionary work that has never been performed in contemporary Hokkaido.

At the Sapporo Cultural Arts Exchange Center SCARTS, in addition to replaying the sounds recorded in the public experiment, the history of IEIE and the people and things we met through our activities will be related from various perspectives, and a spatial chronicle will be created. , along with archive footage and interviews with Hokkaido University researchers.
