Based in the Osaka Independent Theater, which has been attracting attention from all over the country for its conceptual theater-produced works and aggressive activities, the "strongest solo play festival = INDEPENDENT" has been held since 2001.
The one-of-a-kind festival, in which actors and screenwriters compete in solo acts of various genres and expression methods, has attracted a large audience and creators with more than 500 works performed throughout the festival. In 2012, we started a regional version based on the region, and developed nationwide exchanges through solo plays. From 2018, we will participate in overseas theater festivals and start our long-sought overseas expansion. Even though the corona wreck continues, we will thoroughly implement infection control measures to keep our promise once every five years and will not stop our progress !!
The Osaka performance will be the home of the new 2nd Kokeraotoshi, and with 10 gems carefully selected from more than 200 works performed from 2016 to 2020, a hot competition of solo plays will run through the country this summer!
