Sneakers are the name of New Balance. To be honest, I didn't have much image of apparel. That's why I became interested in the concept of New Balance apparel x artist, and being able to put my work into a body that is particular about the fabric of 9 BOX is a very special experience, and at the same time it is a very rewarding work. I felt like this, so I participated in this project this time. Also, from the beginning, it was said that "the theme is left to us". There aren't many jobs that I can draw freely, so it just seems interesting, and above all, I'm glad that I felt that I was very trusted. While I'm doing the job of drawing, people like my paintings and ask me for them, which is the reason why I keep drawing. Of course, there are some difficult parts because it is free, but this time I was able to derive the visuals within myself at a relatively early stage, so I did not feel much trouble in the work of visualizing it, and it was a lot of fun to produce. It's done.
We have set three themes: “WORK”, “HOME”, and “CITY”. At WORK, we represent New Balance shoes in the field of work and focus on the profession of painter who projected himself. CITY is an image of a girl running in the streets of Harajuku taking a short break in front of an advertisement for New Balance. HOME is a scene where a girl on the way home from shopping is relaxing at home. The interior was packed with things I like, such as skateboards, foliage plants, and neon tubes. The message common to all three is "New Balance, which you can wear in any situation and want to wear." There is no problem with the actual finished product. In the case of my work, if the details such as dots and fine lines are blurred or crushed, it will be dull in an instant, but the details are precisely reproduced and I think that the quality of the print is quite high. I will. After all this body is good. I had a T-shirt with the same body as a sample, but it was really comfortable to wear. There are no wrinkles after washing, and it is a fairly heavy rotation from normal to running. So, I think I'll wear these three pieces as well. It looks good as a costume for live painting. You have to be careful not to wear too much and get dirty (laughs).

Perhaps because I spent my childhood in the United States, I've always had a very positive image of New Balance. I've actually worn various models myself, and I'm sure there are more than 10 pairs. I was simply happy to hear from my favorite brand, and I would like to challenge how much New Balance can accept my expression from the creative side. With that in mind, I participated in this project this time. As a result, I was delighted that the design was a new type, so I was very relieved and at the same time I am very honored to be able to participate.
The first thing I kept in mind when actually creating the graphic was a design that blends in with the people who wear it in the city, which makes me want to wear it for daily use and also matches running and walking. To that end, I didn't put out the brand color very straightforwardly, and created the ideal landing that "it was actually New Balance." For example, if you have a model with a message on the front and back, you can simply wear one piece and go out for running, and for daily use, you can wear a tailored jacket from above to create a simple design that does not get in the way. I am.
Therefore, I would like everyone to incorporate it in various scenes without thinking too much. You can use fashion-conscious coordination that makes use of the one-point fluorescent color, or you can feel the functionality of the T-shirt itself as running wear. The design is a little men's-like, but depending on the size you choose, women will enjoy it. In this day and age, the chances of dressing up and going out may have decreased, but I feel that the number of people who sweat during running and workouts is increasing. It would be great if you could freely enjoy fashion as a modern lifestyle wear that makes such sports more commonplace.

Originally I was a person in the fashion field, so when it comes to illustration work, I've always created works that reflect fashion. Therefore, I haven't worked much with so-called sports brands. I participated in this 9 BOX this time because the output was apparel, and I personally consider it as a fashion piece. I also like British traditional clothing nowadays, but in the past there was a time when I was quite into American fashion, and I especially liked the style of the eastern United States. Strangely, New Balance is also from the eastern part (Boston). I felt a connection in that area and challenged this collaboration.
To express the atmosphere of the eastern United States, one depicts a brick gate that seems to be at Harvard University, and the other depicts the cityscape of Manhattan where New Yorkers come and go. And the remaining one has a slightly comical impression, likening the comfort of New Balance to a supercar. What can be said in common with all is to make the design easy for anyone to wear when considering it as a fashion piece. To that end, I drew the facial expressions of the person as easily as possible, and aimed for an illustration that fits in with the daily style as one of the patterns.
