Colorful Spring in Takino ~Takino Flower Relay~
The queen of wildflowers that colors the forest in early spring: the Japanese anemone.
The "Shirane Aoi and Spring Wildflower Festival," where you can enjoy a variety of wildflowers, is being held until May 17th (Sunday)!
Just a short trip from downtown Sapporo, the Takino Forest Zone's West Area "Nature Museum" offers a chance to enjoy the great outdoors. At this time of year, it's bustling with visitors admiring wildflowers such as the approximately 1,500 "Shirane-aoi" (Japanese anemone) blooming throughout the area, as well as "Hitorishizuka" (Japanese quince) and "Enreisou" (Trillium camschatcense), and observing wild birds. In 2026, the Shirane-aoi reached their peak bloom on May 9th, partly due to the early snowmelt. As of May 9th this year, approximately 1,900 flowers and buds have been confirmed, the highest number of blooms since the park opened. The peak blooming period is expected to continue until around May 17th.

The lovely "lily of the valley" that bears the park's name.
Its charm lies in the way it droops its head while blooming with small flowers. However, it is actually a difficult plant to manage, and currently, we are limiting the planting area and focusing on intensive care.
