The number of visitors to the National Ainu Museum's 10th special exhibition, "Celebrating the Museum's 5th Anniversary: The Vienna World Exposition and the Ainu Collection" (held from July 5th (Sat) to November 16th (Sun)), has exceeded 50,000 . To commemorate this, the venue presented a commemorative gift to the 50,000th visitor.
The 50,000th visitor was Toshimitsu and his son, who came from Sapporo, Hokkaido. They commented on the exhibition, saying, "It was a wonderful exhibition." As a commemorative gift, they were presented with a catalogue and original exhibition goods. The exhibition will run until Sunday, November 16th. Please take this opportunity to visit the museum.
About the Exhibition
The 10th special exhibition, "Celebrating the 5th Anniversary of the Museum's Opening: The Vienna World Exposition and the Ainu Collection," displays the Ainu collection from Berlin, Germany, which has returned to Hokkaido for the first time in approximately 150 years. Starting from the Vienna World Exposition, which was a symbol of modernization and internationalization for Japan, the exhibition introduces the formation of the Ainu collection and its historical background. Visitors have commented, "I think it's a valuable opportunity to see items that have been kept overseas," and "I was able to understand the atmosphere and events at the time of the Vienna World Exposition."
