Kochia leaves in full bloom! & “Autumn Leaves Festival” now being held! (10/12-10/27) [Takino Suzuran Hillside Park]

The National Takino Suzuran Hillside Park (247 Takino, Minami-ku, Sapporo) is holding a Autumn Leaves Festival to coincide with the autumn foliage season. As of October 16th, the fluffy kochia flowers have turned red, marking the peak of autumn foliage viewing.

The autumn foliage season in Takino has begun!

To coincide with the autumn foliage season, we will be holding the Autumn Foliage Festival from October 12th (Sat) to October 27th (Sun).
As the mornings and evenings become increasingly chilly, the kochia trees in the lower section of the central zone, "Flower Garden," are now at their peak of autumn color!

Takino original variety "Takino Fire Egg"

Following on from last year, Takino's original variety "Takino Fire Egg" is now available!

Compared to other varieties, it has a long, oval shape.

The leaves on the trees are just starting to turn red!!

The leaves in Takino change color earlier than in downtown Sapporo.
In the Mountain Stream Zone, some of the leaves have started to change color!
We offer guided tours where you can experience the charm of autumn leaves such as maples and kochia that decorate the garden.
We will hold various events.

Recommendations for the autumn foliage season

Ashiribetsu Falls and Rainbow



At Ashiribetsu Falls, you can see a fantastic view that can only be seen at this time of year.
On sunny days early in the morning right after the park opens between early and late October, you can enjoy the fantastic sight of a beautiful rainbow over the famous waterfall, which has been selected as one of the "100 Best Waterfalls of Japan."

Every year at this time, many photography enthusiasts visit the park to take pictures of Ashiribetsu Falls.

Find the giant magnolia leaf

After searching for leaves from the large Magnolia tree!
If the size of the magnolia leaf you find is greater than 60cm in length + width, you will receive a prize!

Limited time only during the autumn leaves season! Shuttle buses are available within the park!

To coincide with the autumn foliage season in the Takino Forest Zone, a shuttle bus will be operating between the East Gate (in front of the Country House) and the Takino Forest Zone (Forest Information Center). The bus is free of charge.
