When Ezo was renamed Hokkaido in 1869, the Kaitakushi, or the Hokkaido Colonization Board, was placed in the city of Sapporo. Its elegant appearance and delicate decorations of the interior offer the nostalgic atmosphere, telling more than 140 years of history of Hokkaido’s development. In addition to the beautiful natural landscapes, there are so many places worth visiting in Sapporo.
