Sapporo’s local ramen became known throughout the country after miso-ramen was invented in Sapporo in around Showa 30s (1955-1965). Lard seen on the surface of soup is an idea to keep the serving temperature hot. Each restaurant features original miso-based soup. Medium-thick chewy frizzy noodle is basically chosen for it goes well with miso flavor, and many places proudly use homemade noodles.

There are approximately 1,000 ramen places in Sapporo city. In addition to miso-ramen restaurants, the number of places that feature other types of ramen such as simple ramen and seafood-flavor ramen is increasing in recent years. Here, we introduce our recommended ramen places in Sapporo city.
