A well-being event has been announced for the Vienna Boys' Choir's first Sapporo performance in eight years!<\/strong><\/h3>\n

May 22, 2026 (Friday) Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Vienna Boys' Choir, beloved around the world, is finally returning to Sapporo after eight years. The stage will be the Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara, whose acoustics are praised by musicians worldwide. From masterpieces by the Strauss family to heartfelt Austrian folk songs, we offer a blissful experience enveloped in the angelic voices of these boys in a supreme acoustic space.<\/p>\n

To commemorate this special performance, we are pleased to announce the "Sumitomo Life Wellbeing Event," sponsored by Sumitomo Life Insurance Company. This event will feature two programs: "Wellbeing Time," where attendees can not only enjoy world-class music but also experience well-being firsthand, and "Wellbeing Place," where parents with young children can enjoy the performance with peace of mind. We aim to provide all attendees with a rich and fulfilling experience that nourishes both mind and body.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Vienna Boys' Choir (Wiener S\u00e4ngerknaben)<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Vienna Boys' Choir was founded in 1498 (Mei\u014d 7 in Japan, during the Sengoku period), when Emperor Maximilian I gathered six boys to sing in the court chapel. This formed the basis of the Vienna Court Music Chapel, the Court Boys' Choir, and eventually the Vienna Boys' Choir. It is also famous for the maestro Toscanini's description of their chorus as having "angelic voices." It boasts exceptional popularity and talent among the many boys' (and girls') choirs in the world. All of its approximately 100 members, aged 10 to 14, live at Augarten Palace. Divided into four groups named after composers associated with the Vienna Boys' Choir\u2014Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, and Bruckner\u2014they perform in concerts all over the world, including in Europe, America, Asia, and Oceania. In their home base of Vienna, they frequently perform at the Vienna State Opera, the Volksoper, the Salzburg Festival, and the Vienna Philharmonic's New Year's Concert, establishing themselves as one of Vienna's leading choirs. Furthermore, singing at Mass in the Court Chapel has always been and continues to be considered the mission of the Vienna Boys' Choir. In 2017, it was registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Austria. In 2024, it jointly received the European Culture Prize, one of Europe's most important awards given to organizations and prominent figures who have made outstanding artistic and social achievements, along with the Vienna Girls' Choir. In 2026, the Bruckner group (Kapellmeister: Manolo Canin) will visit Japan.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
